Main point: try to get some carbs, good fats, and protein. Also, your pre-workout meal should be light in calories about 150-200 calories! You can also track your calories by downloading an app on your phone. I eat at least 1 hour before my workout. You can also drink a sports drink filled with nutrients and electrolytes.
